Slavens is known as a computer pioneer artist and was involved in the concept of a photographic Internet for a public library. He has also created mosaic artism such as: Puzzlemosaics known as Puzzlemosaicism, Picturemosaics known as Picturemosaicism, Dotmosaics known as Dotmosaicism and Color Contrast Separation Art known as Color Contrast Separation Artism. Puzzlemosaics, were made of wood cutouts, while Picturemosaics were mosaics created from pictures. Slavens has created the concept method to have a Picturemosaic made by a computer software program. The computer software program is to have the Picturemosaics made by having a computer program help speed up the process by looking for the right pictures to match the color, contrast and shape as the picture used to create the mosaic of images. Color Contrast Separation Art is an art style where primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and secondary colors (green, orange, purple, etc.) are all used together, in the foreground and background. Mix colors are used in combination of contrast colors, added to the foreground and background of the image. Artism, looks like dots and bits of color up close and images appear visible from a distance. Picturemosaics, Puzzlemosaics and Dotmosaics, were inspired by Color Contrast Separation Art, dots, circles and bits of color led to working with squares and pictures. Puzzlemosaics, was created by taking wood cutouts and putting them in a mosaic pattern, then photographed.
